Training Levels

I believe a fun and new addition to Alacrity would be Training/Trainer Levels.

About Training Levels
This is a system where users complete multiple choice, true or false, and short/long answer tests (with questions about the site, and rules) and 'graduate' a level each time they pass a test by a certain percentage. The questions could go anywhere from "What was the first breed on Alacrity?", to "What is the best thing to do when you have a question about the site?", to other questions about real dogs.

Q: What would stop a user from completing all the tests at once?
A: When a user logs on a certain number of days, a new level is available for them to unlock. This will make sure that no one is able to take the tests in one sitting.

Q: What about prizes?
A: Completing levels will earn you prizes (such as bones for the highest levels, and items). This will motivate users to complete tests and log in more often.

Q: What is the purpose of all this?
A: To motivate users to learn more about the rules of Alacrity, how everything works (and some pointless, random facts thrown in), which will make the staff's lives easier in terms of trying to get users to read the rules, as well as following them. Hopefully, this will result in a respectful and knowledgeable community.

A great idea I found while reading through comments:
"...perhaps instead of items for prizes or even bones or money, we are given badges that appear on our profiles, which perhaps have certain perks associated with them. Nothing crazy, but maybe something like "if you have the green badge, one of the dogs in your kennel goes up a point in drive every week". Little things like that. My point is that we want to encourage people to take the quizzes for themselves, not try to complete them for the prizes so they can sell them to make money, while others will buy the prizes for sale and not bother to take the quiz. A non-sellable item, sort of like a Trainer's Perk or Breeder's Perk, will be more effective in spreading knowledge of Alacrity's rules."

EDIT: I have added some new ideas posted.
EDIT 2: Some more ideas added.
EDIT 3: More added.

As an idea it sounds wonderful.

My only problems are,

It has been done before. I personally don't think Ala should be stooping to copying.

My second is, we have enough people trying to use outside help with the riddler (aka asking on yahoo answers) If we put up a test the answers will become public eventually and that defeats the purpose.

Now if we can come up with an innovative way to offer prizes for knowing the rules and such i'm all for it ^^
I just don't think this is the best way for ala to go about it.

I think that would be a great idea, Éireann. ^^

I like this idea, but I think it should be gone about in perhaps a different way. There's nothing wrong with people looking up the answers on the site, we should want people to use the resources we have to help them and know how to use those resources. A quiz might help them to do that.

I do see a problem with people asking about them in chat. Like the Riddler, which has very strict discussion rules, we could make it a rule that discussing quizzes in any way shape or form can get you barred or suspended. So far, that seems to have worked for the Riddler.

Another thing - perhaps instead of items for prizes or even bones or money, we are given badges that appear on our profiles, which perhaps have certain perks associated with them. A non-sellable item, sort of like a Trainer's Perk or Breeder's Perk, will be more effective in spreading knowledge of Alacrity's rules.

All in all, I think I would give my support for this idea, but only if a few adjustments were made to the plan.

Somewhat support...just no bones as prized like Welsh said, unless you get to a realllly high level.

It may be cool to some with questions about Ala. It'd be best if the questions were about the rules, so members understand them better.

You don't have all of my support, but you have half of it.

Hmmm, I agree with Welshie, no suupport.

I don't like the idea. Bones, and other things are things for people who donate RL money to the site and it could ruin the economy pretty badly. It sounds a lot like the sim game Howrse. And people could just look up the answers on Google or Bing or some other site. Sorry no support. :l

You mean like riding levels on howrse? That would be cool, but some of the great things about it on howrse is you actually learn some real life horse facts. So maybe if it included questions about the real dog breeds and dogs in general too.

I like the idea, but I don't think the levels should be gained really super easily, you know? Since if they're gained really easy, people might abuse it, y'know?

Also, maybe not all multiple choice. There could me that, true or false, and then maybe some short/long answer for more important prizes? =D

That question in particular was an example (and can be answered by searching the dog ID #1). Anyways, it's up to the staff to figure out how to make sure users don't just ask the chat.. I just had the idea :P

I like this idea; anything to help our lovely newbies understand things better and want to come back is a green light in my book :3

This kind of seems like a spoof off of the sim game Howrse. They discontinued the rideing levels though.

As for the idea, it would be interesting, but the information should be somewhere on the site, im shure if you asked in chat people would be willing to tell you what dog was here first, but I for one have no idea.

I love this idea ;)
